Marketing Manager

           Katy Sands is a senior Dance major with a minor in Communication Studies from Denver, Colorado. She is a member of the Honors College at the University of Alabama, and as her mom likes to say, Katy has been “dancing since before she could walk.” Her passion for dance was most ignited when she was selected for her high school dance team as a freshman. She went on to compete throughout high school with both her team, Cherry Creek Varsity Poms, and her home studio, Starstruck Academy of Dance. She served as Captain of Cherry Creek Varsity Poms her senior year and helped lead her team to a national title at UDA Nationals and a state championship.

           Katy has served as a UDA Instructor and Prep Master with College Dance Prep, helping aspiring collegiate dancers prepare for auditions and reach their goals. During her time at UA, she has performed in multiple concerts, including numerous Dance Alabama! productions, Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre, and the MFA Concert: Unfolding where she has had the opportunity to dance and choreograph. Additionally, she has loved exploring the creative and technical aspects of production serving on Dance Alabama!’s Production Committee for two semesters.

           Beyond the studio and stage, Katy is an active member of her sorority Phi Mu and has worked as Waterski Director at a summer camp for two years. Most recently, she spent a semester studying abroad in Florence, Italy! Her passions range from waterskiing, to snow skiing, scuba diving, hiking, and traveling, but of course most of all - dance and all things creative.

           Katy is so excited to bring her creativity, experience, and well-roundedness to her role as Marketing Manager. Dance Alabama! has become a second home to Katy during her time at Bama, and she is thrilled and honored to serve on the executive board. She can’t wait to further contribute to Dance Alabama!’s legacy and see all the ways DA! will continue to grow and embrace dancers from all across campus
